Fitness Requirement
No matter how fit you are, riding a bike on a trip is relatively easy. On most trips I ride an average of 60 km (40 miles) per day. That’s comfortable -- only 10 miles per hour for 4 hours -- a snail’s pace. When you travel on a bicycle, you want to see something other than the road racing by, so take it easy and enjoy your trip!
On a recent trip, I traveled 170 kilometers (106 miles) in one day. For the next two days, I was exhausted. It’s always better to pace yourself.
